DER BRITISCHE ROCK-BASSIST, SÄNGER UND SONGWRITER JOHN LODGE (THE MOODY BLUES) IST GESTORBEN

Der am 20. Juli 1943 in Birmingham geborene englische Bassgitarrist, Sänger und Songwriter John Lodge (Bild ganz rechts) ist am 10. Oktober 2025 gestorben. Weltbekannt wurde er als Mitglied der Band The Moody Blues. Er schrieb Songs wie «Ride My See-Saw», «Isn't Life Strange» und «I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)». Bis heute hat die Band weltweit mehr als 70 Millionen Alben verkauft. (*) Die Band gab bis 2018 Konzerte und wurde im selben Jahr in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen. 1991 traten die «Moodies» am Jazz Festival Montreux auf.

Moody Blues singer and bassist John Lodge dies aged 82

Lodge, who was born in Birmingham, played on some of the group’s best-known songs including Nights in White Satin, Question and Isn’t Life Strange.

Lodge featured on some of the band’s best-known works, including the psychedelic Days of Future Passed in 1967, regarded as one of rock’s first concept albums, and its followup, In Search of the Lost Chord in 1968, on which the band moves further towards experimentation.

Between 1969 and 1972 he featured on the albums On the Threshold of a Dream, To Our Children’s Children’s Children, A Question of Balance, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and Seventh Sojourn, on which the band fully embraced prog rock.

Stalwart Moody Blues member John Lodge has died

Lodge was bassist, co-lead singer and songwriter with the Moody Blues, who originally formed in 1964. Lodge joined in 1966. They went on to sell more than 70 million records worldwide and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

John Lodge, the Moody Blues Bassist and Singer, Dead at 82

John Lodge, longtime bassist and singer in the Moody Blues and writer of the band’s hits “Ride My See-Saw” and “Isn’t Life Strange,” has died at the age of 82.

Lodge is the fourth major member of the Moody Blues to die in recent years, all of whom died following the band’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2018: Founding drummer Graeme Edge died in 2021, original vocalist Denny Laine died in 2023, and founding keyboardist Mike Pinder died in 2024. Founding flutist Ray Thomas died in January 2018, just months before the Hall of Fame induction.
