Martha Argerich Project
Lugano, June 11th - July 1st 2010

The ninth MARTHA ARGERICH PROJECT, promoted by the Lugano Festival, Swiss radio channel Rete Due and BSI Bank, will again bring together some 50 artists around the great pianist. The event includes talented young musicians and lesser-known artists as well as renowned names.
Designed as a showcase for ensemble music, the event is presented as a workshop, with artists in residence invited to play rarely performed compositions alongside masterpieces from their repertoire. This has created a unique formula, based around a group of musicians who are particularly keen to lend their abilities and expertise and take part in a stimulating exchange of experiences. The event will be not be limited to local audiences; Swiss and other European stations will broadcast the event to people much further afield, and recordings will be available too. This year EMI Music is also releasing a boxed CD set of the best of each event in the series, offering a comprehensive listening experience of the most important highlights of the initiative.
This year’s programme is also a commemorative one: it is the bicentenary of the births of Fryderyk Chopin and Robert Schumann.
You can listen to the concerts broadcast by Radiotelevisione Svizzera, Rete Due, both live and in videostreaming format on the following website.
