Der 66jährige Schweizer Fotograf Hannes Schmid (Bild) wurde gestern Abend von der Swiss Society of New York im Rahmen des Swiss Ball im Pierre Hotel geehrt.

The Swiss Society of New York schreibt:
«Swiss photographer and artist Hannes Schmid (born 1946 in Zurich) has been establishing a relevant body of work since the early 1970s. His photographic series of a Cowboy, mostly created in the 1990s, has become an iconic figure known all over the world and has been even appropriated by conceptual artists.
Likewise, his unique images of Rockstars and the subsequent publication Hannes Schmid-Rockstars (Edition Patrick Frey, 2009) have gained wide recognition.
Further relevant works are For Gods Only, The Flow of Life, Thaipusam and Moment of a Moment.
Besides his photographic projects, Schmid’s artistic works also comprise of films and installations, and have been exhibited at numerous venues, including the Swiss Foundation of Photography in Winterthur, Museum Folkwang in Essen, Rubin Museum of Art in New York, Edwynn Houk Gallery (New York, Zurich), Brooklyn Museum in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Leipzig.
In September 2012, Schmid participated for the second time at St. Moritz Art Masters and from March 2013 on, there will be a large retrospective show at the Museum of Fine Arts in Berne, Switzerland.»
