«The 2011 World Press Photo Contest is now open for entries. We invite professional photographers and photojournalists from around the world to participate.

Entries may only be submitted online via our web entry site. A user name and password are required to enter and may be requested through 7 January 2011.

The deadline for submissions is 13 January 2011, 23.59 Central European Time.

When making a selection of photos, be sure to read the advice from David Burnett, jury chair of the 2011 World Press Photo Contest.

The 2011 jury

Nineteenrecognized professionals in the field of press photography worldwidewilljudge the entries at the World Press Photo office in Amsterdam from 29January until 10 February 2011.

For the second year, specialized juries judge their categories in the firstpart of the contest. In the final round, one representative per categorywill join the general jury to ensure continuity.
