Die am 1. Februar 1968 in Memphis (Tennessee) geborene US-amerikanische Sängerin und Songwriterin Lisa Marie Presley (Bild) ist am 12. Januar 2023 in Calabasas (Kalifornien) gestorben. Sie war das einzige Kind des Sängers Elvis Presley und der Schauspielerin Priscilla Presley. 2003 brachte Lisa Marie Presley ihr erstes Album «To Whom It May Concern» auf den Markt, auf dem sie den Tod ihres Vaters und ihre Ehen verarbeitete. Das Album belegte Platz fünf der Billboard 200. 2005 veröffentlichte sie ihr zweites Album «Now What», das Platz neun der US-Albumcharts erreichte. Im Mai 2012 erschien ihr Album «Storm & Grace»; als erste Singleauskopplung wurde im April 2012 «You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet» veröffentlicht. Lisa Marie Presley, Singer and Daughter of Elvis, Dead at 54

Lisa Marie Presley, the singer whose blues-tinged voice carried across three albums and only child of Elvis Presley, died on Thursday at the age of 54.

«It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,» her mother, Priscilla Presley, said in a statement, according to The Associated Press. «She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.»

Lisa Marie and Priscilla Presley were at the Golden Globes on Jan. 10 to see Austin Butler win the Golden Globe for his starring role in «Elvis» as best lead actor in a drama. 

They also attended a pre-Globes party on Sunday for «Elvis,» where the family honored what would have been the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s 88th birthday. «I am so overwhelmed by this film and the effect that it’s had and what Austin’s done. I’m so proud. I know that my father would also be very proud,» Lisa Marie said at the event.

Bis 2005 hatte Lisa Marie Presley das Erbe ihres legendären Vaters kontrolliert. Dann verkaufte sie den Großteil ihrer Anteile an eine Investmentfirma. Sie behielt aber Graceland, das Anwesen ihres Vaters in Memphis, wo Elvis Presley im August 1977 leblos gefunden worden war. Er wurde damals ins Krankenhaus gebracht, dort wurde sein Tod durch einen Herzanfall festgestellt. Die toxikologische Untersuchung ergab eine hohe Konzentration an verschreibungspflichtigen Medikamenten in seinem Blut.
