Der am 18. Juni 1942 in New York City geborene US-amerikanische Musikproduzent Richard Perry (Bild) ist am 24. Dezember 2024 in Los Angeles gestorben. Er arbeitete mit KünstlerInnen wie Rod Stewart, Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Carly Simon, The Pointer Sisters, Captain Beefheart, Manhattan Transfer, Fats Domino, Leo Sayer, Art Garfunkel oder Ringo Starr zusammen. Er war an zahlreichen Hits beteiligt, wie etwa «You're So Vain» (1972) von Carly Simon, «I'm So Excited» (1984) von den Pointer Sisters oder auch an Rod Stewarts «The Great American Songbook»-Albumserie. 2015 wurde Perry mit dem Sonderpreis «Grammy Trustees Award» ausgezeichnet. Von 1978 bis 1983 besass er die eigene Plattenfirma Planet Records.
