2011 Freemuse Award winner: Ramy Essam
The young Egyptian singer Ramy Essam, who provided the soundtrack for the Arab Spring at Tahrir Square, is the winner of the 2011 Freemuse Award.

The artist received the award at a ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden, on 21 November 2011. «My dream is to spread the voice of Egypt all over the world. Thank you for helping me in that,» said Ramy Essam. His song «Irhal» has been ranked as number 3 on a Top 100 list of songs that changed history.
